Your First Dental Visit to our Office

During your first visit to our office, we will provide:

Dental Screening

We perform comprehensive screenings for gum disease, oral cancer, and cavities. Using a small mirror, we check your gums for signs of inflammation, bleeding, or recession, which can indicate gum disease.

For oral cancer screening, we examine your mouth, throat, and neck for any unusual lumps, sores, or discolorations. We also use a probe to measure the depth of the pockets around your teeth. Finally, we check each tooth for cavities using a dental instrument to identify any soft spots or holes that could indicate decay.

Digital X-rays

Our office provides digital X-rays, which are quick, comfortable, and expose you to minimal radiation. They help us see what’s happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums, identifying any issues that aren’t visible to the naked eye.

The process of taking digital X-rays is quick, comfortable, and safe. You simply bite down on a sensor, and within seconds, detailed images appear on our computer screen. These high-resolution images help use diagnose problems and create treatment plans.

Cleaning

Our skilled hygienists can perform routine dental cleaning with special tools. This cleaning will help keep your mouth healthy.  The process begins with removing plaque and tartar buildup from the mouth. Even with diligent brushing and flossing, some areas are hard to reach.  plaque, a bacterial film, can harden into tartar, which only professional cleaning can remove.

Our hygienists will remove bacterial buildup with a scaler, a stainless steel tool that scrapes bacteria from the teeth and gums. Then, the hygienist will polish your teeth with a gritty toothpaste and a high-powered brush. This step removes any remaining plaque and stains, leaving your teeth smooth and shiny. Finally, we will floss between your teeth to ensure every crevice is clean.

Bite Analysis

We can perform a bite analysis to look for bite problems. During this analysis, we will look for signs of tooth wear and misaligned teeth. We will also use X-rays to look at the jaw. Taking a closer look at your bite can help us diagnose and treat problems like TMJ disorders or orthodontic issues.

If we find a problem with your bite, we can help reduce painful symptoms like teeth clenching and grinding, headaches, and jaw pain with prompt care.

Why is Routine Dental Care Essential?

At biannual dental visits, our team can find early signs of dental problems using modern digital technology. Our dental hygienists can also help patients maintain good dental hygiene. Gum disease and tooth decay are some of the most common dental problems that can be easily reversed with regular cleanings. However, they can cause cavities and tooth loss if they are not treated as soon as possible.

Dental sedation is also an option that can help calm patients during their dental procedures. IV sedation, in particular, allows patients to feel relaxed during treatment. Patients also do not feel any pain under dental sedation.
